The Barton Arms is a grand Victorian pub in Newtown, just outside Birmingham Town Centre. Once part of a bustling community and next to the old Aston Hippodrome it is now isolated by the ring road – but go and explore part of the history of Birmingham. We’ve driven past it for 25 years and have always meant to visit.
The pub specialises in authentic Thai food and Real Ale. Every month on Monday evenings they have a Taste and Tour for £20 giving you a background to the history of the pub and the area followed by a tour of the features and the cellars, followed by a 2 course meal. A great evening! A more extensive Thai menu available 7 days a week – and a beer festival every so often next one is this weekend 28th/29th April 2018.
To think they nearly pulled it down in the 1980’s – in fact we must have lots hundreds of historic buildings such as this. Well worth a trip.
